As one of Australia’s most iconic and enduring cinema brands, we are thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new IMAX cinema at our Fountain Gate location in November 2025. The state-of-the-art theatre will promise to deliver one of the largest and most immersive cinematic experiences, marking an exciting new chapter in Village Cinema’s 70-year legacy of innovation.

The new IMAX auditorium features IMAX with Laser, the most advanced projection and sound technology available. Purpose-built for epic storytelling, this next-generation experience includes:

  • A custom optical engine and lenses for unmatched brightness
  • Precision-tuned audio for immersive, wall-to-wall sound
  • Enhanced contrast and a wider colour spectrum, exclusive to IMAX screens

A New Partnership, A New Destination

The new IMAX theatre at Fountain Gate marks the first collaboration between Village Cinemas, IMAX, and Scentre Group, the operators of Westfield Fountain Gate. It represents a shared commitment to creating premium entertainment destinations in key locations across Australia.

  • Avatar: Fire and Ash – James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel returns to Pandora with breathtaking scale and cutting-edge effects

  • The Odyssey – Christopher Nolan’s new epic delivers a powerful, visually striking journey crafted for the IMAX experience
